My Ultimate Driving Instructor Training course has been constantly tweaked and tested and is specifically designed to suit YOUR requirements not ours.

Many of our competitors assemble their courses to maximise their return and often squeeze up to three trainees to a single training vehicle and then hope their trainer can cope with all three at once. (Just one of the hidden costs of cheap training).

You will be dividing your valuable training time by three.

We offer a personal 1-1 service throughout the course and I will be with you every step of the way from your first assessment drive right through to the day when you qualify.

You will receive help and assistance at every step of the qualifying process and we will remain on hand with career guidance, business advice and personal development once you have become a fully Qualified Driving Instructor.

Our ADI Training Courses are part time and follow a highly successful training structure. There is plenty of flexibility built in so that training can be arranged around your current commitments, this way you can work at your own pace.

Driving Instructor Training is most effective when carried out at regular intervals for short periods of time (2 -4 hours). This keeps you in frequent contact with your personal trainer, constantly motivated and allows adequate time for your home study between training sessions.

In order to maximise your time and accelerate your learning, ALL training is carried out on a 1:1 basis and you will be working with me exclusively.
(It’s for this reason we can only accept 8 trainees in the program at one time)

Our strategy has always been to offer quality for a few rather than conveyor belt training for many.

“My training started with 1-1 classroom sessions for part one, I had around 6 sessions with Geoff and Bob, this was useful as what I covered in the classroom, I put into car training with Chris the week after.

My part 2 training was excellent, the training allowed me to cover all parts getting me ready for my part 2 test, this was comprehensive and supported me in passing my test. Both Chris and Bob offered different levels of training, Chris from the instructor’s view and Bob from the trainer/examiner’s view.

Part 3 training was the more in-depth one, Chris covered the training promptly and fully understood my learning needs, and he adapted this to suit me. I felt that I struggled sometimes and he changed things up to help me get my bearings and back on track.

The best thing about the training was doing this one-on-one, I had dedicated support and felt supported. Any issues that came up were addressed and analyzed by Chris and Bob so I fully understood what I needed to work on.

The other good thing is they both observed live lessons with real pupils, this proved valuable as this is where you learn more by getting the feedback on your lesson.

I first started my driving Instructor training in November 2016 with a large well known company. It was a complete career change for me after having worked as a mobile Car Technician for many years and running my own business.
Throughout my Part 1 and 2 training, I had a 10 minute monthly telephone conversation with a member of their training team and my driving instructor. I was advised that there were lots of other trainee instructors in the local area, but we were never encouraged to meet up to offer support to each other. I felt unsure if I was doing the job correctly and giving the correct information to my pupils. My instructor was helpful, but what I would have really benefitted from was speaking to someone at the same level of training as me.

I was introduced to Geoff Capes in September 2017 as a partially trained driving instructor. I had just failed my Part 3 (1st attempt) and my franchise was up for renewal. The company that I was with were pressuring me into renewing and to book my Part 3 test ASAP. The government were in the process of changing the Part 3 test and my instructor had advised me to hold on until the new test came in, but I wasn’t getting the same support from the office. I felt really isolated at this point, it was like they didn’t want to offer me any further support working towards training for the new test.

I didn’t rebook my Part 3 test as they had suggested, I sat down and chatted to Geoff about joining his company. Within a week Geoff had given me the number of Chris one of his training instructors and we met up. Chris was able to assess where I was up to, explain what I was doing well and give me some pointers on areas where I needed to improve. With this help and support, I was able to move forward and I passed my Part 3 in January 2018.

Working for Geoff Capes is like a breath of fresh air in comparison with the last company. After joining them in November I was invited along to the Christmas night out and was able to meet the team who are all so friendly and supportive. We have a What’s App group so that all of the instructors can communicate and support each other, monthly team meetings, updates and 1-2-1 meetings. The training I have received has been more tailored for the individual and I am seen as a person rather than a number. I would recommend Geoff Capes to anyone thinking of undertaking Driver Instruction Training rather than one of the bigger more impersonal companies.

Why did you decide to become an instructor?

I wanted to become an instructor to become my own boss, to meet new people every day and to pass on one of life’s most important skills needed for the modern day.

What did you do before?

I spent 12 years serving in the armed forces and 2 years working as a youth worker.

What do you like about the job?

I enjoy the flexibility being a driving instructor gives me. I also like the fact that no two days are ever the same and there is always a challenge for me to help someone overcome.

What car do you drive?

I currently drive an automatic Toyota Yaris hybrid.

What are your interests?

I’m a keen follower of many sports including boxing, darts and American football as well as being a lifelong Liverpool fan.
